Cell Phone Accessories That Are Great For Cars

Monday, March 21st, 2011

cell phone chargerMore than 90 percent of the people in this country own a cell phone.  That’s according to the CTIA Wireless Association.

If you own a cell phone, most likely it’s going to be in your car at some point or another.  To help keep you organized and safe, we’ve come up with a list of some of the top cell phone accessories for cars.

These accessories will improve your cell phone driving experience.  Here is our list.

  • Hands-Free Sets: You shouldn’t be talking on your cell phone while driving.  But if you have to, you should be using a Bluetooth hands-free headset.  This allows you to stay focused on driving with both hands. Plantronics, Samsung, Motorola and Jawbone, all make popular Bluetooth headsets.
  • Cell Phone Chargers: There’s nothing worse than having a cell phone with a dead battery.  A cell phone car charger helps to keep your cell phone charged.  You can find cell phone car chargers at most stores.  Just be sure to find one that fits your cell phone.
  • Cell Phone Antennas: A cell phone antenna for your car is another good accessory to have.  These antennas boost the reception on your cell phone, helping to prevent against dropped calls.  Cell phone antennas for cars are great for people who regularly drive in mountainous regions where cell phone reception is not good.
  • Cell Phone Holders: A cell phone holder is a great way to keep track of your cell phone while driving.  You can usually mount a cell phone holder on your car’s windshield, dashboard or air vent.  There also are options that transform cup holders into a cell phone holder.

Remember to refrain from using your cell phone when driving.  Also be sure to check the cell phone laws in your state.  Some states make it illegal to drive while talking on a cell phone without a hands-free headset.

For help finding more cell phone accessories talk with family and friends.  You also may want to talk with your mechanic during your next Sacramento brake check or your next Santa Fe brake repair.

What to Do When You are in a Car Accident

Wednesday, October 27th, 2010

You see stars and your ears are still ringing. What just happened?

This is something that no one wants to go through but should be prepared for in case it ever happens.  A car accident.

Many people panic when a situation like this occurs but here are a few tips to help you be able to deal with it in the best manner.

Always keep your auto-insurance in your car in case of an accident.  The best place to keep it is in your glove compartment because it can not get lost and you know exactly where it is at all times.  Another good thing to keep in your glove compartment with your auto insurance is a disposable camera in case you need to take any pictures of the incident for your records. You cell phone camera also is a good tool.

Stay at the scene of the accident! Make sure to wait until the police get there so you can tell them your side of the accident.  Don’t think that a police report will suddenly get you off the hook or even that they will create a police report of the incident.

Exchange information with the other driver immediately! Names, address, driver’s license number, and insurance information! Always remember this!

Review your current policy! Make sure you know what is covered and what is not and come up with a list of questions to ask your insurance company.

Call up your insurance company! Even if it was a minor accident, your insurer should know! They will come knocking at your door if they find out you were at fault looking for their repayment so be upfront with what happened.

GO OVER YOUR POLICY AGAIN! This is where many people get messed up because they have no idea what their policy says. If you don’t understand your policy, call up your insurance agent and have them go over it with you until you are clear with what you get and don’t get out if it.

No one wants to get a Santa Fe brake repair or a Phoenix car tune up because of an accident they were in, but with these easy pointers,  you can be better prepared to handle a car accident if it does happen.

The Right Way To Use Your Emergency Brake

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

The use of the emergency brake (also called the parking brake) is a subject of much argument among drivers.

With some people claiming that it should be used all the time, some saying that it should only be used on steep hills and inclines, and some who believe it should not be used at all; it’s hard to know what to believe.

At Brake Masters we are firm believers in using it all the time. Here’s why:

The emergency brake is most useful on inclines and steep hills. Its additional stopping power ensures that your car won’t go rolling down a hill and cause a massive collision. We can’t think of a reason for not using it with such a big risk involved if you don’t.

However that doesn’t explain why we suggest using it all the time.

While it’s generally not necessary on flat surfaces, it’s still important that you use it when parking anywhere. Otherwise, debris such as dirt, dust, and salt will eventually clog the cables and cause the brake to stick.

As anyone who has accidentally driven with the parking brake on will tell you, it’s not fun. It creates a drag on the vehicle and will cause a nasty smell of burning brake material if driven for too long. You’ll need Las Cruces brake repair or Santa Fe brake repair before you know it.

By using your emergency brake regularly, you can avoid this problem and keep your vehicle running smoothly.
